JESPER BOGAARD
Already as a child, Jesper was fascinated by art, constructions and materials. He spent many of his childhood hours taking things apart and putting them back together and building sculptures from the separated – always with a philosophical approach to how things are built, constructed and produced, and with a curious look at art through play.
It turned into many creations in his childhood years; paintings, sculptures and constructions built in a wonderful mix of new and old. It can be said that he then laid the foundation stones for his current approach to the creation of his works – a playful and philosophical universe, with a great knowledge of materials and diverse craftsmanship.
Since then, Jesper has worked with art and culture in many different aspects: In a kind of studio in England, which created backdrops for the film industry, in Denmark's advertising industry, where backdrop construction was the focal point of his craft - and as a freelancer, he has also dealt with backdrops and performing arts on i.a. Brandt Clothing Factory and the Funen Opera.
Jesper is also educated at the Arts and Crafts Seminary in Kerteminde, where wood, steel and metal were the main subjects. Metal and steel are still Jesper's preferred materials in relation to constructions - but he likes to work in many different materials and has, if he has to say so himself, "quite a lot of material knowledge"
He has also helped other artists in the creation of their works or installations, and has also created smaller works in his own name, before in 2018 he helped start the art company Chaos Engine - which, among other things, created works of art for festivals and municipalities. In 2020, Jesper chose to become independent, under his own name "Jesper Waaben Bogaard" - which has since become Grundstuff.
